Expect a mix of Roots and Traditional Blues songs interspersed with instrumental and ambient styles
“The Steyne Gang” have developed from a group of musicians who have met regularly to play at the annual August charity event in The Steyne Gardens, Worthing. Following their success at this event, David (Guitar, Bottleneck Guitar, Lap Style Slide Guitar and Vocals) has been asked if the band could play at several of the local music venues in the town. This then lead to the formation of the Roots/Blues band “Storm Drain Kelly” (David Simmons; guitar vocals, Jon Hill; Bass, Neil Langman;Harmonica, Matt Greenfield;Drums) who continue to play as a four piece and played at this years event on Monday, August 26th 2019 (late afternoon).
With a desire to maintain an acoustic feel to his music and play smaller venues, David decided to keep “The Steyne Gang” name, as an option to play a more intimate and varied repetoire and play with the musicians who were available at the time. For this event, Neil Langman; Harmonica, Jon Finka;Guitar, David Simmons, Acoustic and electric bottleneck guitar, 12 string guitar and Lap Steel guitar.
David studied Musical Instrument Technology at The London College of Furniture, specialising in Early Instruments and music. He has made and designed his own instruments and also composed using a variety of styles.
