Thursday 21st November – SPEAKEASY
If you could speak about one subject that you are passionate about what would it be?
Every month, three guest speakers talk on a topic close to their heart. It could be on the arts, science or nature; about an abstract concept or a physical object of desire; a moment in history or perhaps a tiny fragment of their life. In the last few months we have had talks naturalists, in the buff (naturally!) talking about their passion for walking naked in the countryside, a man talking about his passion for cornershop newsagents and the delights they hold therein, a talks on why we should embrace failure, on what it was like living on a canal boat for 10 years, about disused tube stations of London and about teaching a town to play the ukelele.
Last month we we journeyed into the pages of science fiction utopias with Daniel Parsonage, took a hilarious tour of a secret nuclear bunker with Tim Bick, and then blasted off into orbit with Nada Mitrovic-Wakeford who told us about the Russian space programme of the 1960’s.
You never know what you will get as we don’t announce the subjects in the night, but we promise you will go away with food for thought!
This month we will have 3 talks that promise to entertain, enlighten and educate – sometimes all three.
Doors are at 7.30, with the first talk at 8.15. Please note, this event tends to sell out in advance, so get your tickets in early!
